After the Cassiar highway (Highway 37) we continued on the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16). From Prince Rupert the Yellowhead Highway passes southeastward for 724 km through to Prince George, then goes another 268 km through to Tête Jaune Cache, enters Alberta through the Rocky Mountains near Jasper (100 km from Tête Jaune Cache). This pass in the Rocky Mountains just before Jasper is called the Yellowhead Pass (1131 meters). This pass is also located on the Great Divide and is the border between British Columbia and Alberta.

The Yellowhead Pass is also located just after the Mount Robson Provincial Park. Mount Robson Provincial Park is the largest provincial park in the Canadian Rockies with an area of 2,249 km². The park is located entirely within British Columbia, bordering Jasper National Park in Alberta. The B.C. legislature created the park in 1913, the same year as the first ascent of Mount Robson by a party led by Conrad Kain.

After crossing the Yellowhead Pass we directly cycled into the Jasper National Park. Jasper National Park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, spanning 10,878 km² (4200 mi²). It is located in the province of Alberta, to the north of Banff National Park
